The core drills a hole using a set of top and bottom drills. If the bottom drill grinds more than 60%, there is a possibility of breaking the glass at the top. The top drill needs to overlap the path of the bottom drill to remove any parting line created by the bottom drill. Process Parameters
1. Feed rate set up: The feed rate should be chosen concerning the glass thickness and the drill diameter to avoid glass breakage due to excessive drilling forces; during chamfering the feed rate should be reduced to ensure hole surface quality.
2. Dressing frequency: to make sure diamond abrasives are fully exposed, normally under standard conditions dressing frequencies should be between 20 and 50 holes.
