Cutting into photovoltaic manufacturing


For home appliance enterprises that do not have technology accumulation, the acquisition of photovoltaic enterprises is undoubtedly a quick way to cut into the photovoltaic circuit.


In 2020, TCL Technology acquired CMC Magnetics, the leading silicon wafer company, to enter the two major links of silicon wafer and components. In addition to the operation business of CMC Power Station, TCL Technology has realized the upstream and downstream coordination of the industrial chain. According to the 2022 financial report, TCL Technology has a total capacity of 109GW of photovoltaic materials, and the export of silicon wafers ranks first in the global market. In the downstream link, TCL Central has accumulated 886.97MW grid-connected photovoltaic projects.


The same strategy was adopted by Midea. At the beginning of 2020, Midea acquired Hekang New energy, homeosided layout of new energy storage and other related businesses. It is understood that Hekang New Energy is a professional engaged in industrial automation control, reactive power compensation equipment, new energy storage and energy saving and environmental protection of high-tech enterprises, products are widely used in power, photovoltaic, energy storage and other industries. At present, relying on energy storage, SVG products and project coordination capabilities, Hekang Xineng has formed a complete "source, network and load" side solution, and its low-carbon smart microgrid solution has been successfully applied in Midea Industrial Park. Recently, Hekang New Energy launched a series of photovoltaic and energy storage products, which has attracted the attention of the industry again.


In early 2021, Konka Group invested 2 billion yuan in the production of photovoltaic glass through its holding subsidiary Jiangxi Konka New Materials Co., LTD. Relying on the photovoltaic glass production line, Konka actively extends to the upstream of the photovoltaic glass industry chain, silicon materials, silicon wafers and related photovoltaic modules, and expands new business.


It is understood that in June 2022, Konka and Hemai signed the "photovoltaic power generation project Cooperation Framework Agreement", the two sides plan to jointly establish a joint venture company, and the joint venture company as a platform to carry out the construction of photovoltaic power generation projects.


On August 25, 2022, Guizhou Kaili Municipal People's Government signed a cooperation agreement with Guizhou Kangjia New Energy Material Technology Co., LTD. Kangjia New Energy plans to invest a total of 4 billion yuan to build five domestic advanced technology level of 1200T/D level one-kiln five-line photovoltaic glass light panel production line and related deep processing supporting facilities production base.


Haier Group's affiliated company, Hailkaos Ecological Technology, established Dayday New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. in May this year with a registered capital of 100 million yuan. Its business scope includes industrial engineering design services, sales of photovoltaic equipment and components, research and development of carbon emission reduction, carbon conversion, carbon capture and carbon storage technologies, etc.


Force distribution


Home appliance enterprises face C-terminal, have good brand influence and mature sinking channels, and have the innate advantage of developing distributed photovoltaic, especially household photovoltaic.


Haier Group is the first household appliance enterprise to promote household photovoltaic. In 2015, Haier launched household photovoltaic power stations, aiming at the rural market and providing distributed photovoltaic solutions for villagers.


In recent years, photovoltaic home appliance enterprises have paid more attention to business model innovation. For example, Skyworth Photovoltaic and TCL Technology have focused on leasing model.


It is known that Skyworth photovoltaic household photovoltaic mode can be divided into two categories. The operating leasing mode refers to the leasing period of 1-22 years, in which the user obtains the guaranteed income according to a fixed proportion, and the power generation income of the power station will be returned to the user after 22 years. The PV + mode provides users with 0 yuan to enjoy home appliances for the benefit of the people, and users can enjoy the home appliances of Skyworth at 0 yuan in the first year while obtaining the minimum guaranteed income according to a fixed proportion. The power station can be repurchased after 2 years of any of the above modes, and all income from power generation of the power station shall be attributed to the user from the date of repurchase.


According to the financial report, in the first half of 2022, Skyworth Solar has realized operation and grid-connected photovoltaic power generation of household photovoltaic power stations increased by more than 50,000, the cumulative completion of grid-connected operation of household photovoltaic power stations more than 100,000.


In April 2022, TCL PV Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. was established and launched the "Light Fubao" model for the household PV market. TCL Photovoltaic Technology will undertake the development and construction of the residential power station and the operation and maintenance of the power station in the next 18 years through an 18-year operating lease agreement signed by the user and a financial leasing enterprise. After 18 years, the plant and its revenue will be fully owned by the user.

In early 2021, the company registered and established Jiangsu Sunrise Eastern Photovoltaic Co., LTD., which actively participated in the whole county (district, city) rooftop distributed photovoltaic project. It is understood that in the first half of this year, Sunrise East successively won the bid of Huadian, Huaneng County roof distributed photovoltaic power generation project EPC project, the total amount of 945 million yuan, the first phase of the project scale of 322.5MW.


Photovoltaic support, focus on the main business


Crossover photovoltaics can help home appliance companies create new growth poles, but not every attempt has had the desired effect. Consolidating the main business is a more secure way, which is represented by Gree and Hisense.


In 2012, Gree launched the "photovoltaic air conditioning" project and began to develop a subversive zero-carbon air conditioning system technology based on clean energy. In 2013, Gree Electric Appliances independently developed a photovoltaic direct-drive centrifuge system. According to the 2022 semi-annual report, the business scope of Gree's photovoltaic (storage) air conditioning segment includes photovoltaic storage DC air conditioning system, new energy DC appliances, energy storage and near user side energy Internet system, etc.


Similarly, Hisense also innovates air conditioning products through photovoltaic technology, and has launched a new photovoltaic central air conditioning photosynthesis series. It is known that this series of products adopts light storage and direct flexibility technology, and has a higher power conversion rate compared with traditional central air conditioning products.
