Grinding conditions affect grinding wheel clogging

1, RPM

The increase of RPM will lead to the decrease of the maximum cutting depth of abrasive particles, the decrease of chip cross-sectional area, and the increase of cutting times and grinding heat, resulting in the increase of plugging amount. When grinding, the RPM should be selected reasonably.

2, workpiece speed

Practice has proved that when the working speed is doubled, the amount of grinding wheel clogging is increased by three times. Because the higher the workpiece speed, the greater the abrasive load, the shallower the abrasive cutting depth, the smaller the chip cross-sectional area, when the grinding thickness increases, the aggravation of the abrasive passivation, increasing the grinding wheel to the workpiece grinding layer extrusion, equivalent to the grinding wheel characteristics harden, thus aggravating the grinding wheel blockage.

3. Grinding method

In the grinding mode, increasing the contact area between the grinding wheel and the workpiece will aggravate the plugging of the grinding wheel. Because the contact area between the grinding wheel and the workpiece is large, the coolant is difficult to enter the grinding area, the grinding heat is high, and the temperature is high, creating conditions for the blockage, and it is easy to produce chemical adhesion blockage and embeddedness blockage. For example, the end grinding is easier to plug than the circumference grinding, and the transverse cutting grinding is more serious than the longitudinal grinding.

4, radial cut

The influence of radial cut on grinding wheel plugging shows a hump trend. When the radial cut (ap) was less than 0.01mm, the plugging occurred. When the cut (ap) was increased to 0.03mm, the plugging (ap) showed a decreasing trend. When the cut (ap) was increased to 0.04mm, the plugging increased sharply.
