Advantages of diamond grinding tools

Apr 01, 2022

Diamond grinding wheel is a surface grinding tool for various refractory surfaces. In order to meet different needs, this tool has different types and specifications. To make diamond grinding wheel play its role, we need to learn about diamond grinding wheels, let's take a look today: What are the advantages of diamond grinding wheel grinding? Which materials are suitable for machining with diamond grinding wheels?

What are the advantages of diamond grinding wheel grinding?

1. High grinding efficiency

When grinding cemented carbide, its grinding efficiency is several times that of silicon carbide. When grinding W12 Cr4V4Mo high-speed steel with poor grinding performance, the average efficiency is increased by more than 5 times.

2. Has high wear resistance

The wear resistance of diamond grinding wheels is high, and the consumption of abrasive particles is small, especially when grinding veryhard and brittle workpieces. When grinding hardened steel with diamond grinding wheel, its wear resistance is 100~200 times that of general abrasives; when grinding hard alloys, it is 5000~10000 times that of general abrasives.

3. Small grinding force and low grinding temperature

The hardness and wear resistance of diamond abrasive grains are high, the abrasive grains can remain sharp for a long time, and are easy to cut into the workpiece. When grinding carbide with resin-bonded diamond grinding wheel, the grinding force is only 1/4~1/5 of the grinding force of ordinary grinding wheel. The thermal conductivity of diamond is high, 17.5 times that of silicon carbide, and the cutting heat is quickly transmitted, so the grinding temperature is low.

4. The grinding workpiece has high precision and good surface quality

When grinding carbide tools with diamond grinding wheels, the roughness of the blade face and blade is much lower than that with boron carbide grinding wheels, the radius of the edge arc is small, the blade is very sharp, and the durability of the tool can be increased by 1 to 3 times. The roughness of workpieces processed with diamond grinding wheels can generally reach 0.1~0.025μm, which can improve the smoothness by 1~2 grades compared with ordinary grinding wheels.

Which materials are suitable for machining with diamond grinding wheels?

Cemented carbide, ceramics, glass, agate, precious stones, semiconductor materials, stones and other non-metallic hard and brittle materials and non-ferrous metal workpieces are also suitable for titanium alloys.
